Insight Session - Nature-Based Solutions, Biomimicry, and Flood Management
Join us for this Insight Session, where experts from Jacobs shall present lessons learned about projects that have used nature-based solutions (Nbs) and biomimicry related to flood management issues for communities in the U.S. and Europe. The speakers will discuss potential connections and opportunities to apply these lessons learned to communities in Sub Saharan Africa dealing with similar issues and interests in innovative design and planning solutions.

Andy Potts, PE, LEED AP, F.EWRI, CPESC
Global Principal, Stormwater and Watershed Management
Andy has 24 years of experience in green stormwater infrastructure (GSI), stormwater management, water resources, and sustainable site design applications. He focuses on GSI planning, design and implementation; performance evaluations of source control projects; green streets and parks; innovative stormwater management; LEED; hydrologic analyses/modeling; plan reviews; stormwater manuals; and watershed studies. Andy was a technical co-author for the Michigan Low Impact Development Manual, the Pennsylvania Stormwater Manual, and for chapters in the WEF Green Infrastructure Implementation manual and the ASCE book Permeable Pavements. He has a MSCE from the University of Virginia and is a professional engineer, an EWRI Fellow, a LEED Accredited Professional, and a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC).
Christopher Lee Allen
Global Principal Regenerative + Nature-based Solutions
With 30+ years consulting and strategic management experience, Chris works with technical teams to integrate Regenerative and Nature-Based Solutions into planning and design for a range of private and public sector clients all around the globe. Guided by strategic thinking and an interactive process, Chris specializes in working with clients and teams to drive innovative outcomes that create new business, ecological, and social value. He is the former CEO of Biomimicry 3.8 and serves as the Jacobs strategic alliance liaison to the organization for ecologically aligned regenerative design and development.
Tyler Jantzen, PE
Water Resources Engineer
Tyler is a water resources engineer with Jacob’s Buildings and Infrastructure Group in Seattle, Washington. He has more than 15 years of experience and has been involved as a team member on a variety of projects that have included hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling, flood risk mapping and management, stream restoration, climate change adaptation, dam-break analysis, stormwater planning, roadway drainage design, and combined sewer system analysis.
Jason Bernagros, PLA, LEED AP BD + C
Landscape Architect
Jason is a water resources planner and landscape architect with Jacob’s Water Resources Group in Seattle, WA and Portland, OR. He has more than 15 years of experience and has been involved as a team member and project manager for a variety of projects throughout the U.S., Latin America, and Africa focused on developing climate resilient urban green stormwater infrastructure (GSI), low impact development (LID), and nature-based design and planning solutions for public and private development projects, at watershed and site scales. Jason has extensive experience fostering collaborative partnerships; and delivering transformative and equitable technical assistance and research programs for communities.
