This insight session will be introducing the Disaster Resilience Scorecard for Cities, a dynamic planning tool that will revolutionize your approach to disaster resilience! Developed by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), this scorecard empowers local governments to assess and enhance their city's resilience, aligning with the Ten Essentials for Making Cities Resilient. Not only does it help monitor progress and challenges in implementing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, but it also lays the foundation for crafting robust disaster risk reduction and resilience strategies.

The scorecard offers two distinct levels of assessment. Level 1, a rapid yet comprehensive evaluation, invites city stakeholders to review 47 carefully crafted questions and indicators, this initial step sets the stage for meaningful dialogue and collaboration. Level 2, a deep-dive assessment, invites a multi-stakeholder journey through the exploration of 117 detailed indicator criteria. Whichever way you choose, participants gain invaluable insights to shape a comprehensive city resilience action plan.

Tailor-made for local authorities, the scorecard encourages initiating dialogues with departments and stakeholders through the preliminary level assessment. Based on its results, local governments can decide whether to pursue the full detailed assessment or prioritize key essentials that demand focused attention.

While the scorecard stands as a powerful tool on its own, it thrives when integrated with your city's specific hazards and risks. By prompting you to identify "most probable" and "most severe" risk scenarios, or potential multi-hazard events, it enables a holistic understanding of your city's vulnerabilities.

Join us on this transformative journey towards disaster resilience, harnessing the potential of the Disaster Resilience Scorecard for Cities. Together, let's build a safer, stronger future for our urban communities.
