The topic we would like to deepen in this technical discussion is “decentralized energy provision on a local level”, namely looking at the possibilities of RE on a county or even city level. We would like to analyse the governance structures in Germany and Kenia to foster decentralised energy provision. We like to discuss with you the question of independence from the conventional electricity grid through green energy. We aim to compare conventional solutions used in Germany and partner countries and evaluate the technological requirements of different scales of energy autonomy. Therefore, there are two general questions that we would like to discuss:
1. What are the preconditions, the benefits, and tradeoffs of decentralized energy provision?
2. What type of RE fits best to your local context?
