Renewable Energy Options on the Municipal Level
The proposed learning process, spanning from October 2023 to October 2024, aims to promote the exchange of relevant municipal expertise in the field of renewable energy through facilitated peer-to-peer consultation between municipal practitioners from Southeast Europe and Germany. The event aims to provide a wide range of information through interaction, knowledge and experience sharing between participants and to address the latest developments and research findings relevant to the region.
In order to narrow down and focus the discussions within the specific areas of work, the following thematic priorities have been identified:
- Efficiency measures, energy saving measures for municipal infrastructure and green spaces.
- Renewable energy supply for municipal buildings (photovoltaic and heat pump) and infrastructure (street lighting, recreation areas, etc.)
- How can municipalities encourage their residents to purchase their own small-scale renewable energy systems?
- Promoting innovative municipal financing for sustainable energy
The Kick-off Dialogue Event took place from 10 to 12 October in Tbilisi, Georgia, with 19 municipalities and municipal institutions from 7 countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Germany, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Ukraine) in attendance.
Over the course of the three days, they developed concrete new project ideas or improved already existing ideas.
