Co-creating the Future: Principles, People, Place

Expert/Trainer: Dr. Katharina De Vita, University of Greenwich

Organisations increasingly turn towards users for inspiration to develop innovative products and services. Living labs (LLs) represent a new way for organisations to engage in co-creation and to better understand user needs. LLs interact with a wide set of stakeholders, such as citizens, companies, municipalities  and universities. Therefore, coordinating co-creation is particularly complex, as it requires the inclusion of more activities and actors than those of traditional
closed innovation models. It is thus crucial to identify how co-creation can be facilitated in LLs. This presentation outlines how co-creation can be facilitated. Principles, people and place build the cornerstones of this discussion. Seven principles influencing the interaction of People and Place of the LL are highlighted through a particular case study. The living lab JOSEPHS® represents an inspirational LL that will be unpacked to understand how such an approach  can be leveraged in other contexts helping to co-create the future.
