Data Driven Decision Making, an Opportunity for Municipalities

Expert: Elena Poughia

The post-COVID-19 recovery calls for public sector strategies that enable a fairer, cleaner, and more sustainable local and regional economies

A study from Sloan school reports that companies that follow data-driven decision-making experience a 6% increase in the productivity and output of the company over the companies that do not. Not only has the number of data increased, but also the available tools to make sense of that data and make decisions, resulting in the steady growth of companies. Governments and in turn municipalities can benefit greatly in research, public policymaking
and economic development by opening their data and making decisions based on the data of their municipality. In this capsule we will review successful entrepreneurial approaches using data to achieve and sustain success in their daily activities that can be applied by municipalities to create more innovative and creative ways of working for municipalities.
